A metric variable is a variable measured QUANTITATIVELY. The distance between the values is equal (e.g., the distance from scores 4 to 6 is the same as the distance from scores 6 to 8). INTERVAL, RATIO, and CONTINUOUS variables can have metric measurement and be treated as metric variables.
