Dependent Variable
A dependent variable is any variable that is held to be causally affected by another variable, referred to as the independent variable. The notion of what can be taken to be a dependent variable varies between experimental and nonexperimental research [see entries on dependent variable (in experimental research) and dependent variable (in nonexperimental research)].
