Suggestions for Further Reading

Readers wishing to consult statistics and methodology texts to supplement this dictionary have many works from which to choose. Listed below are works that are very clearly written, and/or are widely cited accounts, and/or are representative of some of the many disciplines that use the methods defined in this dictionary.
Suggested books are grouped by level of difficulty. The more elementary books in Group I are basic enough that most readers can read them without help. Group II contains more advanced volumes that, while usually starting with the basics, move quickly to more difficult topics and examine them in greater depth. Group III lists other dictionaries and reference works that contain methodological and statistical terms.
Special mention should be made of the Sage series Quantitative Applications in the Social Sciences. Works in this series introduce readers to advanced topics in short booklets. By focusing on concepts rather than proofs and derivations, the booklets can cover advanced topics without requiring of readers more than basic statistical knowledge.
