Learn to Create a Cycle Plot in R With Data From NCHS (2018)

By: & Published: 2021 | Product: SAGE Research Methods: Data Visualization
Chart type:
Chart family:

This dataset outlines how to create a cycle plot of death count data, using a subset of the NCHS mortality dataset and the R statistical software. Cycle plots are used to visualize long-term cyclic phenomena using parallel line charts and enable the reader to discern significant trends over a period of time without distortion from large-scale cyclic value variations such as seasons. Like the traditional line chart, the cycle plot uses relative point location and color to encode the value. You will learn to identify ideal use cases and best practices for employing this visualization type in your work. The dataset file is accompanied by a Student Guide and a How-to Guide for R.
