Using Virtual Reality Scenarios Along With Physiological Measures as Intervention Procedure in Patients With Dementia

Abstract

This case study provides an example of using virtual reality in research, specifically the use of virtual reality to reduce anxiety levels in patients with dementia. A number of tips beyond the mere experimental design are given, which traditional scientific articles typically leave out—for example, how to approach a day-care center, how to interact with day-care professionals and patients’ relatives, and how to organize work sessions from a practical point of view. During the research process, various situations and problems will arise and researchers will have to make relevant decisions. This case study describes real situations, with regard to both organizing the research work and interacting with patients.
