Case
Abstract
The case presented below describes the methodology used for my doctoral thesis which mapped the development of ‘higher education internationalisation’ through the autobiographical journey taken by way of the researcher's life. In doing so, I drew on the interpretive research method reflective topical autobiography to present a subjective perspective of ‘internationalisation’ and to reflect on the transnational higher education initiatives and collaborative ventures that have led to the development of (entrepreneurial) cross-border higher education from the early 1980s through to the present. I also discuss how the thesis was structured to adhere to the requirements of doctoral research while using reflective topical autobiography, as well as how rigour, trustworthiness and quality of the research were ensured.
