Case
Abstract
This case describes the content validation of a questionnaire which was undertaken as part of a Master of Science (MSc) dissertation by the author. The dissertation led to the publication of the study, which further prompted reflection upon the practicing of this methodology. Therefore, there are descriptions of the challenges and benefits in undertaking the content validation for the dissertation, as well as aspects related to the publication, such as ethical approval, questionnaire development, undertaking a “dummy run,” developing clear conceptual definitions, and establishing a sample of research experts. The Method in Action section reflects upon utilizing the Content Validity Index, chance agreement and Kappa, analyzing qualitative suggestions and dichotomizing the data. Overall, readers are invited to learn from these experiences by consulting points for discussion and further reading.
