My doctoral journey resembled the dilemma expressed in Robert Frost's poem The Road Not Taken. After earning three master's degrees, I felt as though I mastered the required learning techniques, and successfully completing the degree process became easier and easier with each endeavor. However, I was intrigued by the unknown challenges presented by earning the doctoral degree. Just as in the poem, I accepted the challenges and embarked on the road less traveled … and that has made all the difference. This case presents the processes I followed in conducting my quantitative doctoral research. The study involved a cross-section of practitioner faculty members representing different course disciplines along with descriptive and correlational analysis to determine whether gender and age influenced conflict management style preferences.
