The purpose of this short chapter is to help readers navigate through the ‘Approaches’ part of the book. In it we explain our aims and the way we have organized our material; we draw attention to some questions or themes which recur in several chapters; and we say something about those approaches which do not get a chapter of their own.
Aims and Organization
The approaches discussed in Part II are defined using a mixture of criteria, and in practice they can be combined in various ways—for example, a study might use both critical discourse analysis and corpus methods, and it might also deal with multimodal and/or multilingual data.
