The availability of research methodologies and frameworks to facilitate different ways of gathering knowledge and performing research is often a matter of concern for early career researchers as well as advanced research scholars. Introduction
In his paper presented at the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) Conference, 2009, in Delhi, Professor Binod C. Agrawal made an impassioned plea for the use of qualitative research methods, in conducting communications research in India, as opposed to the quantitative models that we have been mostly used due to the early influence of American scholarship here in India.
Professor Agrawal, in that lecture, pointed to something very important which I would like to carry forward here. He said that ‘we cannot use Western models to understand eastern behavior’.
