Organizational psychologists are trained to predict, explain, and influence behavior in organizational settings. Among our long-standing interests is the selection process, namely, the development of selection tests that will enable an employer to accurately predict prior to hiring who is going to perform effectively on the job.
To decide whether a selection technique is useful, we organizational psychologists take the following four steps. First, we do a job analysis to identify the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that are critical to performing the job.
