In our work, we incorporate research from psychological science and discipline-based education research to develop classroom innovations, and we implement studies in authentic contexts to evaluate those innovations. From our experiences, we have realized the importance of continual communication with instructors (faculty practitioners) throughout the research project. Our example concerns an experimental intervention that we implemented in a general chemistry class.
