My doctoral dissertation completed at the University of Chicago, “Cooperation, Competition and Altruism Within Twin Sets: A Reappraisal,” was the launch of that career (Segal, 1982). From Chicago, I traveled to the University of Minnesota as a postdoctoral fellow and eventually research associate, affiliated with the Minnesota Study of Twins Reared Apart (MISTRA), a world-famous study both now and then (Segal, 2012).
