Integrating Quantitative and Qualitative Data in Analysis and Interpretation
In any research project, once we have sampled our cases, constructed our measures, and collected our data, we turn to the task of analysis. Here we aim to answer our research questions and produce new knowledge. Although, as we have shown in previous chapters, data integration can be achieved at a variety of points in the research process, integration of analyses and their interpretations is often a primary aim in mixed methods research. Given well-designed sampling and data collection phases of a project, a mixed methods approach to data analysis should produce additional insights beyond what a single-method approach would produce (Bazeley 2018).
