Global Studies Research is a research methods textbook designed for interdisciplinary International Studies majors and their faculty. The textbook introduces interdisciplinarity, provides basic building blocks of relevant disciplinary knowledge, explains a process for integrating knowledge from multiple disciplines, and models this interdisciplinary International Studies Research Process in its presentation of the case studies.

Below is a sample integrated essay that serves to introduce the HIV epidemic as a global problem; it is a completed puzzle picture. This essay resulted from gathering, comparing, and combining information and insights from the Global Studies disciplines of anthropology, economics, geography, history, and political science to describe at least part of the world’s response to the HIV epidemic, in answer to the research question prepared in Chapter 3: “How are IGOs and NGOs involved in the global response to the multisectoral HIV epidemic?” Chapters 4 and 5 should be read together, because Chapter 5 explains in detail how undertaking the Global Studies research process allowed me to write this essay.
