4.1 Introduction
In Chapter 1, we stressed the importance of statistical programs like SPSS in the research process. In Chapters 2 and 3, we explained how data can be entered into the data files of SPSS and can be modified further. In this chapter (as well as in Chapter 5), we cover the actual statistical analysis of the data.
Before statistical tests are performed (see Chapter 5), a thorough description is necessary. Descriptive statistics can be very useful to gain insight into the variables at hand (for instance, see Figure 1.3).
