Before starting to write up an analysis-based report, most researchers will spend a good amount of time understanding exactly what the story is that the data are showing us. Once we have a good handle on the story, we will present only those parts of the analysis that help to tell that story. So, the first cut is to eliminate any interesting results that may distract from the main story.
