A bar chart is a visual representation of categorical data that uses horizontally oriented bars to represent frequencies or values of the x-axis. To create a simple bar chart using Excel, follow these steps:

  • In a new worksheet, enter the data as shown here. In this case, gender and frequency are represented.
  • Highlight all the data.







If you are using the PC version, do the following:

  • Click the Insert tab and then click the Bar icon.
  • Click the 2-D Bar icon to produce the bar chart you see in Figure 33.1.
