Survey: Structural Questions

Communication research surveys incorporate a number of types of questions to collect data that support the research questions or hypotheses. Two types of survey questions include structured and unstructured. Structural survey questions typically provide more accurate data since the respondent uses lower cognitive thinking to answer. In addition, structural questions are easier for researchers to code and analyze. Several forms of structural questions include single response, multiple response, scaled questions, and ranking choices. Quantitative research uses structural questions, and can filter the responses so if respondents answer one way they are redirected to a specific question.
