Scholarly publications are outlets for the dissemination of the results of academic research. Scholarly publications appear in a wide variety of forms, including books, edited volumes, yearbooks or handbooks, and journal articles. Some publications are submitted to a process of peer review prior to publication, whereas others are reviewed by one or more editors. Scholarly publications may be distributed in printed form, in electronic form, or in both formats.
