Epidemiological studies provide a vast amount of data that can be used to influence policy decisions or provide the starting point for more detailed investigations or intervention development. However, behind the numbers, there many considerations of how epidemiology occurs at ground level. This case study provides an insight into the practicalities of how one large epidemiological study was carried out through the eyes of a trained interviewer.
