Case
Abstract
This research project case summarizes my dissertation utilizing feminist methodology to conduct a single case study design with qualitative methods. The purpose of the study was to understand how one domestic violence organization (an intrinsic case) promoted economic justice for survivors of domestic violence. The research is presented in order to share the challenges associated with the development of a doctoral dissertation proposal, methodological challenges faced in the field, and the reflexivity process developed for this qualitative research. The case provides contextual material on the establishment of domestic violence organizations in the United States. The purpose of the case study is reported along with a summary of the practical steps taken to develop the dissertation proposal and to implement the study. Challenges faced learning the research design, partnering with a community organization, and carrying out fieldwork are discussed. The sources of qualitative data collection and the data analysis are outlined along with a summation of the findings of the case study.
