Case
Abstract
This case study outlines and explores the research I undertook as a postgraduate research student undertaking a Master's degree in Criminological Research Methods. It details the journey I took through the research process, from accessing the data to choosing, understanding and applying conversation analysis to police interview research. It discusses the theoretical antecedents and the overarching philosophical traditions that inform conversation analysis and its conventions. It explores the theoretical and methodological frameworks of conversation analysis through revealing the ways in which these can be applied to police interviews and provides practical illustrations of how it can be used to draw out meaning from data.
