A Case–Control Retrospective Observational Study in Multiple Myeloma

Abstract

This case study is about the case–control retrospective observational analysis we performed with multiple myeloma patients. Autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is the first line of treatment for these patients; however, it is still debatable in patients above 65 years old. We chose to analyze patients from different age groups and different transplant statuses who had been treated at our center to evaluate toxicity and the efficacy of different treatment approaches. In this case study, we reflect on how we designed our research, the steps we took as we developed our study, and the difficulties we encountered.
