Lag Sequential Analysis

Lag sequential analysis is a method for analyzing the sequential dependency in a serially sequenced series of dichotomous codes representing different system states. If the system is in state A at time t, then is it more or less likely that the system will be in state A or not A at time t+1,t+2,...t+k? The analysis assumes that the events are sequenced in time (a time series) but does not assume equal time intervals between events. In principle, this analysis could be applied to any time sequenced series of dichotomous codes. However, in both communication studies and psychology, the method has been extensively used to analyze patterns of interaction during conversations. If Person A engages in a behavior classified as X at time ...
